Kirklees Warm Zones (2007–2010) was a pioneering area-based fuel poverty and energy efficiency initiative in West Yorkshire, unique for its cross-tenure model offering free loft and cavity wall insulation to all households in the borough, regardless of tenure, without means-testing.

B4Box is a construction works and training organisation which undertakes renovation and retrofit of void properties in Manchester and surrounding areas. B4Box has a unique procurement contract with Stockport Homes, whereby the company is paid to deliver training to local residents, alongside capital works.

The Leasing Scheme in Wales facilitates the lease of privately rented properties. Councils have access to properties for 5 to 20 years while landlords maintain ownership of the property.
